Of all things - painting is what I love the most. When I am most happy.
Just like you may analyze a picture of someones home or interior styling, to find inspiration for your own designs, I love to study other artists work, to develop my own visual language and painting techniques.
This fall I'm "dating" Russian born American painter Mark Rothko.
I have always been fascinated by his later works (he died 1970): large, seemingly simple paintings, so called multiforms with layers upon layers of vibrating paint. How did he do it?
Based on modern chemical analysis of some of his paintings, I'll try to understand how he prepared and applied the paint to achieve his stunning results. Hopefully, I'll be able to include some of his tricks in my own future work.
It will be great to do this as a side project to my everyday interior design work. What's YOUR special project for this fall?
