My kind of lakeside getaway in the woods.

I returned home late today, and was too tired to go out again and experiment with some new ceramic ideas. Instead I'm trying to catch up on my blogging.

I have a bunch of great get away places I'd like to show to you. I posted a few some months ago, and here is another. Perhaps my favorite of the bunch. Who can resist a house like this? Placed in between the forest and the lake. With a big window-wall (30 feet by 20 feet) which opens the entire living space to the lake. What is not to love?

Designed by Olson Kundig Architects like a little box with a big window. Materials are low maintenance: concrete blocks, steel, concrete floors and plywood left unfinished to naturally age and acquire a patina that fits in with the natural setting.

All images are from Olson Kundig Architects. Like the work of the architect firm? Here is another example - a renovated New York flat. More on this and other houses in Tom Kundig's book Houses.
