I jumped the gun on this one, so I'll repost it.
Today is March 8, International Womens Day - a day I want to celebrate some clever and creative women I admire. Click on their names, to learn more about them and their work.
Let's start off with two designers: German born Lilly Reich, who co-designed the Barcelona chair with Mies, and below her, the Irish born designer Eileen Grey.
Two self portraits by two women artists I love: Finnish painter Helene Schjerfbeck and below, the Italian artist Artemisia Gentileschi.
Two famous authors I love to read: England's Jane Austen, and Poland's pride, the poet and Nobel laureate Wisława Szymborska
Two scientists: First the women I admire most of all - Polish born Marie Curie (Nobel Prize winner twice!) and the Italian born Trotula of Salerno
Then two women who dared to change the world! American Rosa Parks and the English suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst
Last, but not least, two adventurous ladies, with wandering souls: American aviator Amelia Earhart and Belgian-French explorer Alexandra David-Néel.
Have any women YOU admire? (Apart from Mum ;-)
